ABOUT
I am a passionate Full-Stackdeveloper and tech mentor whoships products end to end.
A story of curiosity and craft.
I am David Gavilanez, a team lead and Senior Full-Stack / Mobile Developer from Guayaquil, Ecuador, with over ten years of experience. I fell in love with the web the first time a few lines of code turned into something alive on a screen, and that curiosity became a career built on one habit: taking things apart to understand how they work, then building them back better.
Over those years I have shipped products across logistics, fintech, e-commerce, real estate and mobility: a multi-country grocery delivery platform with hundreds of thousands of users, an offline-first field inspection app processing over 200,000 inspections a month, wedding marketplaces and a complete business suite for SMBs. That range taught me to move comfortably across the whole stack, from pixel-perfect interfaces in React, Next.js, Astro and Flutter to microservices with NestJS and Spring Boot on AWS, and the results are measurable: backend response times cut by 35%, offline sync improved by 50%, over 90% test coverage on critical components and production issues down by more than 40%.
Along the way I discovered a second passion: mentoring. Today I split my time between building products and helping engineers grow, always with the same standard: software should be fast, honest with its users and pleasant to maintain. If it does not meet all three, it is not finished.

How I work.
Every project starts with questions, not code. I dig into the problem, the users and the constraints until the requirements stop moving, because the most expensive bugs are the ones written into the plan. From there I design the smallest system that solves the real problem: clear data models, honest interfaces and boring, predictable architecture. Then I build in short cycles, shipping something usable early and improving it with real feedback instead of guesses. Tests, code review and continuous delivery are not ceremony to me; they are what makes moving fast sustainable. And when the work is done, I leave the codebase better documented than I found it, so the next developer, often future me, can move just as fast.
What I use.
My stack covers the whole product: React, Next.js, Nuxt.js and Astro on the front end, Flutter and React Native on mobile, and NestJS or Spring Boot behind the API, running on AWS infrastructure managed with Terraform. Around the code I keep one non-negotiable: quality lives in the pipeline, not in good intentions, so SonarQube gates, Cypress and Jest run on every product I ship. Tools change as the ecosystem evolves; the fundamentals they serve, clean architecture, testing and clear communication, are what compound over a career.
